Helen (27) was born in Cameroon and arrived in Italy at the age of three.
As a teenager, she spent her days at the train station.
“Without dance, I would have surely ended up badly, maybe even arrested.”
She discovered T.U. when she was 15, and over the years became a teacher. She now leads Afrobeat and dancehall classes, followed by many students, and works as a choreographer, dancer and instructor across Europe.
Her dream is to open a dance school in both Cameroon and Rome, to offer other kids the same opportunities she had.
“Rome is home, if you grow up here, you’ll miss it forever.”
She has lived 24 of her 27 years in Rome, but still does not hold Italian citizenship.
