Juru (25) fled Rwanda with his family during the 1994 genocide.
He was only three years old when he arrived in Italy.
“Not getting Italian citizenship was my biggest fear for so long.”
After 23 years, he finally received it.
“People aren’t familiar with the idea of a Black Italian. They ask me where I’m from, and I answer: ‘from Grottaferrata!’”
Juru is a dancer, percussionist, and rapper, and serves as vice president of T.U., which he joined at 18.
He studies international cooperation.
