BIOGRAPHY

Ilaria Magliocchetti Lombi(b. 1985, Rome, It) is a portrait photographer based in Rome. Since 2006, she has documented the independent music scene and collaborated with leading Italian and international publications. Her personal projects explore themes such as diversity, ecology, and human rights, often focusing on social movements like climate justice, women's rights and citizenship reform. In her work, portrait photography is approached as a participatory practice that fosters connection and dialogue, where subjects actively collaborate in the creative process.

In 2021, she was featured in the Sky Arte documentary series "Le Fotografe" and published her first book, Jhalak (RVM HUB), a sort of very personal Indian diary with a story by Vasco Brondi. That same year, she exhibited Segni at Palazzo Braschi, a project on gender-based violence created with artist Simona Ghizzoni. In 2022, she was the resident photographer at the Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto, producing a catalog documenting the festival’s artists. Between 2023 and 2024, the project STRAORDINARIE, curated by Renata Ferri, was exhibited at MAXXI in Rome and Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan. Featuring over 100 portraits of Italian women, it highlights stories of resilience beyond prejudice and gender discrimination. STRAORDINARIE is also a book published by Silvana Editoriale.

She teaches portrait photography at the European Institute of Design (IED) in Rome and leads a portrait-photography masterclass in Bologna at Spazio Labò.
