My name is Great Nnachi, and I was born in Turin on September 15, 2004.
My parents are Nigerian and moved to Italy 25 years ago.
I’ve been doing athletics since I was nine, but I started pole vaulting when I was twelve, so I’ve now been practicing this discipline for four years.
Along the way, I faced some challenges: for example, when I set the Italian U16 record, it wasn’t validated at first. My coach eventually managed to have the regulations changed so that records achieved by foreign athletes born in Italy could be officially recognized.
Today, I am an Alfiere della Repubblica, an honor granted by President Mattarella.
My dream is to go to the Olympics and compete for the place where I was born: Italy.
